Privacy is a concern to many of us, and I respect your right to personal privacy. I will collect and use information through my Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement, which applies solely to information collected at johnvias.com.

History of changes

08/11/2007. Updated “Information Collection” section to allow for the Google Analytics cookie.

03/09/2007. Removed language about SSL encryption, which I stopped using because it seemed unnecessary, complicated the user experience with browser warnings, and because I no longer collect street addresses.

Part I. Information Collection

Night photograph by John Vias titled Broken Chain To receive announcements, a visitor may subscribe to my news feed or provide a salutation, first and last names, and contact information on the “Contact” page. He or she may also optionally provide referral information and comments. I collect this information through the form or, rarely, through private email or telephone call.

Anonymous data about visitors such as web browser and operating system used, pages visited, screen resolution, Javascript capability, etc., are collected with cookies and my web host’s server logs.

Part II. Information Use

The information collected by johnvias.com will be used for keeping visitors informed about upcoming shows, books, workshops, offers, services, and Web site developments such as new galleries. If I want to post comments left by a visitor, I will get permission from that visitor before doing so.

I will share a visitor’s contact data with financial and shipping companies if necessary to process an order.

Information gathered by the web host is used to analyze site traffic.

I offer links to other Web sites; their privacy policies will likely differ from this one, and I encourage you to read them if you have privacy concerns.

If my policy on information collection or use changes, those changes will be reflected in this document.

Part III. Access to Information

I maintain the accuracy of the information with your help. To have inaccuracies corrected or to have information deleted, visitors may email me through the Web site.

Part V. Problem Resolution

If problems arise, users may contact me through the Web site. I’m committed to resolving any disputes promptly.
